valentine bucket

I wanted to do a craft with readily available materials.  If you go to target these buckets are in the dollar section right now.
Every year I decorate our table on valentine's day.  Each placesetting has a little present on the plate and after dinner my family can open their gift.  They are never expensive, under 10 bucks, but still fun.  We have started also going around the table and each saying what our favorite thing about each person is.  It's getting easier the older each kid gets.  This year I decided I wanted something to hold the present but also love notes from each other.  Not anything long and windy, just something that can be held on to over the years.

This was very easy and quick.  I just cut out one inch thick strips of material and tulle that I had laying around and tied them on the handles.

Then I wrote each person's name on the bucket.  I'm not much of a writer and I definately have always had an issue with my letters slanting, but I figure it's in my writing and hopefully my kids and hubby will enjoy that.  I've also discovered that adding a dot at the end of each letter makes it cuter.

I will be posting this at craftomaniac
